Honorees
The STONES-IN-SELMA celebration exists to honor the courageous men and women who placed their bodies, faith, and futures on the line during the Civil Rights Movement. These original Selma Footsoldiers are living witnesses to history — and the foundation upon which progress was built.
We recognize them not only for what they endured, but for what they ignited.
Original Selma Footsoldiers Honorees
Each of these individuals crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge on March 7, 1965 — a moment that forever changed America and helped lead to the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
🌉 Special Honorary Award
These honorees are recognized for their lifelong commitment to justice, courage, and community leadership:
This inaugural honor reflects the spirit of Selma — standing as ambassadors of hope, resilience, and moral leadership.
🪨 Why We Honor
We honor these Footsoldiers because history is not abstract — it lives in people.
Their courage laid stones across a bridge that the world once feared to cross. Today, we return to that bridge not in fear, but in gratitude, responsibility, and resolve.
Honoring those who crossed the bridge — and those who continue to build the road forward.
We’d love to hear from you! Whether you’re interested in attending the event, bringing a group, becoming a sponsor, or volunteering—reach out and let’s build together.
